Ugandans Urged to Embrace Joint Efforts in Fight Against HIV/AIDS

Health stakeholders in Ntungamo District have called for increased joint efforts in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS, citing growing concern over rising infections, especially among married couples and in rural communities.

The call was made on Tuesday afternoon by Nesterio Twesigye, the Ntungamo District Health Educator, during orientation of district HIV/AIDS champions, held at the Ntungamo District boardroom which brought together journalists, politicians, members of the business community, and local communicators.

 Ntungamo Leaders Launch Rwerazi Road Works to Boost Market Access

Local leaders in Ntungamo District on Friday launched construction works on the 9.1-kilometre Rwerazi Road in Rukoni West Sub-county, aimed at improving connectivity and easing access to markets. The project is expected to cost Shs 65 million.

Presiding over the launch, the Ntungamo District Local Government Chairperson, Samuel Muchunguzi Rwakigoba, reaffirmed the district’s commitment to regularly maintaining roads as a key driver of economic development.

Ntungamo Authorities and Locals Embark on Restoration of Kashojwa Wetland

Ntungamo, Uganda – Authorities in Ntungamo District have called for collective action to conserve the environment as the restoration of Kashojwa Wetland in Kaina Ward, Rwentobo-Rwahi Town Council officially kicks off.

Speaking during the launch of the restoration exercise today, Deputy Resident District Commissioner Rosemary Atuhaire emphasized the urgent need for all Ugandans to take climate change seriously, warning that its devastating effects are already being felt globally.

Ntungamo Officials Commission 24,000-Litre Water Tank at Rubaare Secondary School

Ntungamo, Uganda – On Thursday, authorities in Ntungamo District officially commissioned a 24,000-litre rainwater harvesting ferro-cement tank at Rubaare Secondary School, in an initiative aimed at enhancing access to clean and safe water for students.

The commissioning was led by Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner Isaiah Byarugaba Kanyamahane, who called on the school’s administration and students to ensure the facility is well maintained and used effectively.

Ntungamo District, Uganda – Residents and leaders on Monday gathered at Kataraka Primary School playground in Nyakyera Sub-county to mark Sanitation Week and World Water Day, with a renewed focus on improving hygiene and access to clean water.

 

 The celebrations, themed "Sanitation for Dignity and Inclusiveness" and "Water and Environmental Resources for Enhanced Resilience and Improved Incomes and Livelihoods," highlighted progress and challenges in the district’s water and sanitation efforts.

 Ntungamo, Uganda — In a significant boost to livestock farming, the government of Uganda has donated modern motorized forage choppers to 11 farmers in Ntungamo District.

According to Dr. Yaake Basulira, the Ntungamo District Veterinary Officer, the equipment is intended to enhance animal feeding practices, ultimately increasing milk production and supporting commercial livestock farming.
